- Probably something blowing up at either the Navy or Marine bases. Could be connected to a practice flight of one of the stealths or Blackbirds. Growing up in San Diego, this happened once. They were testing the Blackbird. It flew so fast it broke the sound barrier, causing a sonic boom.

- Lest we forget, he is just a Deputy Press Secretary. Hardly someone who has any real control; his job his to assist the Press Secretary with maintaining strong public face. I would hardly say he has any control over who does what, and he's definitely not law enforcement, just a civil servant.

- I disagree. What right do they have to jam something that does not belong to them? What does it matter the experience? They have your money already. The moment you begin watching the film, regardless, they have made a profit from you. That concludes the business deal.

- Wow, very enlightening read. Although to be fair, he and his unit only served with a fraction of American military presence there, so I can't help but wonder if all American soldiers are behaving in this fashion? I can't believe that all of them are acting this way.

- @Jeremy: Some departments have regulations that require police vehicles to be parked in emergency lanes -- even when acting on a break (e.g. shopping, etc.).

- There's no proof Palmer was put on the hood, as he is the only one mentioning that in this article. And to shed some light on police procedures, by the time he went through the intersection, it's possible the officer was told to stop from going to the speeder by dispatch and return to normal duty.

- Yeah, I listend to that too and was surprised at what Kevin Rose was saying. I do think he wasn't as clear as he would have liked to be. Either way, he was flat wrong; Newsvine is not just a feed puller, users can create and submit their own content.
